Overview
Built for office and home environments, the TS-453Be 4-Bay NAS Enclosure from QNAP features a simply physical design with a PCIe 2.0 x2 slot that can be fitted with a QNAP QM2 expansion card for M.2 SSD caching/10GbE connectivity and support for Qtier auto-tiering technology, or a compatible wireless card to turn this NAS into a wireless access point. It also supports dual-channel 4K H.264/H.265 processing to provide a smooth media viewing experience on connected devices. In addition, a wide range of productivity tools are available for use on the TS-453Be to improve work efficiency for media creators or creative professionals, while also enriching their multimedia experience.

Network connectivity is achieved using two Gigabit Ethernet ports. When both ports are used simultaneously, read speeds and write speeds can reach 225 MB/s. Encrypted transfers also deliver read and write speeds of up to 225 MB/s, and when equipped with a 10GbE card, sequential throughputs with dual ports can drive read speeds up to 659 MB/s and write speeds up to 648 MB/s.

This 4-bay enclosure natively supports 3.5" SATA III hard drives, and 2.5" hard drives and SSDs are also supported using included 2.5" drive flat head screws. Using the five 5 Gb/s USB 3.0 Type-A ports, this QNAP NAS can be connected to other devices, including a UX-800P or UX-500P expansion enclosure, allowing you to easily transfer large media files and expand NAS storage. Additionally, the TS-453Be is validated with AES-NI and FIPS 140-2 AES 256-bit encryption, helping to prevent sensitive business data from unauthorized access and breaches.

QNAP has also engineered this NAS to also support RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, and 10, each which offers data redundancy, performance, or a combination of both. For those who do not require a RAID, JBOD and single disk modes are also available. Included is a 90W AC adapter that runs using 100-240 VAC, a power cord, twelve flat head screws for 2.5" drives, and two Ethernet cables. Protection is provided by a limited 2 year warranty.

With the TS-328, you can centrally backup and manage all your files and easily share them with others. With the new version of File Station (QTS 4.3.4), you can directly access the photos and videos on your mobile device by connecting it to the TS-328 via USB. You can even use the Qphoto mobile app to take photos or record videos and directly upload them to the TS-328 for greater protection to save the storage space on the mobile device.

Protect data with snapshots
Snapshots help protect your data by fully recording the NAS system state and the metadata. If an error occurs, you can use snapshots to quickly restore the system to its normal state. QNAP snapshots are block-based and only record the changed data. Not only does this save storage space but also reduces the time required to back up and restore data.

Introduction
Network-attached storage has become a sought-after addition to today's connected home, and we've often stated that once you become accustomed to the versatility of a NAS, you may wonder how you ever lived without. But there have been some stumbling blocks along the way. Earlier models weren't particularly user friendly, the hardware tended not to be a stylish addition to the home, and pricing remained prohibitive.

How times have changed. For 2018, Taiwanese manufacturer Qnap has updated its award-winning range with the addition of the entry-level TS-228A. Currently available for just under £150, this dual-bay box helps demonstrate how NAS has expanded its reach from the knowledgeable enthusiast to just about anyone who owns a computer gadget or two.

Measuring 188mm x 90mm x 125mm in size, the TS-228A is one of the more petite dual-bay NAS solutions on the market and is designed to blend neatly into the modern home. You'd hardly notice it on a bookshelf and the sleek white exterior, pale green lid and column of status LEDs are a far cry from the dark, bulky boxes of old. Such a svelte profile does result in a small 65W external power supply, yet it's a tidy package that can function with just two cables; power and Ethernet.
Keeping it simple is the name of the game at this price point, yet we're pleasantly surprised to find the front of the unit equipped with a USB 3.0 port for one-touch copying from an external drive. The rest of the ports are tucked around back, where you'll find two USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet and a connector for the aforementioned power supply. Spending more on a premium NAS might afford you dual LAN, HDMI output, an SD card slot or forward-looking USB Type-C, yet it is no surprise to find that such features aren't part of the TS-228A remit.
Lightweight and easy installation
The minimal and streamlined design of TS-128A makes it fit easily into your home. Featuring a unique, tool-less design, setting up the TS-128A is so easy that it doesn't even need a screwdriver!

A single NAS for cross platform, multi device file access and sharing
The TS-128A acts as a file exchange platform to simplify your file management across devices, and is compatible with a wide range of computers and devices (including Windows, macOS and more). For mobile devices, the Qsync suite can be installed for synchronizing and sharing files across PC, phones and tablets.

High-end snapshot protection for files and data
QNAP has extended support for file snapshot protection to our entry-level NAS. Snapshots were originally only possible on high-end business systems, and they allow you to record the system state and data content at a single point of time. With snapshot protection, if you accidentally delete/modify files, or if any hard disks should fail or your network is infected with malware, you can quickly restore files to a previous point in time.
